I have over 45 years of experience in the financial and insurance services industry and in public services.  I have held executive positions in finance, investment, actuarial and IT areas in Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shanghai and Beijing.  I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master of Science degree in IT.  I am a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a Fellow and past President (1999/2000) of CPA Australia, Greater China Division. 

I started my actuarial career in Melbourne in 1975.   I was transferred to AXA in Asia as their Finance head in 1994 then moving to become their Chief Information Officer for Asia unitl my transfer to Shanghai in 2003.  I have held positions of CFO for AXA China, AIA China and Prudential in China. I have been the senior advisor to the Hong Kong Insurance Authority from 2018 to 2021.

While in Shanghai I was a founding member of the Actuarial Experts Panel and Solvency Standard Committee set up by the former China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC). I was the convener of the China Embedded Value task force with the work cumulating to the introduction of mandatory EV reporting in China.

I was elected to the Council of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia for a three year term from 2019 to 2021.

I have also served in the Professional Development Committee, Membership Committee, International Committee, Strategy and Statutory Path Committee and Council of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong.
